Anago Cleaning Systems Hosts Holiday Toy Drive to Honor Memory of Employee’s Son
The friends and family of Michael Cornelio remember him as a charitable young man who always helped those who were less fortunate than him, especially around the holidays. Tragically, Michael passed away earlier this year. In remembrance of his generous spirit, Michael’s mother, Helen Cornelio, is partnering with her employer, Anago Cleaning Systems (Anago), to organize a toy drive that will benefit children in underprivileged communities to continue his charitable legacy. Furthermore, the leading commercial cleaning franchise has announced that they will be matching every donation made during the Michael Cornelio Toy Drive with a new toy.
“While Michael is sadly no longer with us, we hope keep his charitable spirit alive through this toy drive,” Cornelio said. “It’s a magical time of year, but unfortunately, there are a lot of less fortunate children out there who might not feel the magic of the season. Michael was always looking to help those in need during the holidays, so this toy drive will celebrate his memory. Since he is only here in spirit, I hope this toy drive can put a smile on the face of someone else’s child.”
Cornelio, who works as a manager in the business development department for Anago, has high hopes for the drive honoring her son. She said that their goal is to distribute as many toys as possible to deserving charities by spreading the word to family, friends and neighbors, asking them to donate to this worthwhile cause.
From now until Dec. 20, 2013, Anago’s Pompano Beach, Florida office located at 1100 Park Central Blvd. South, Suite 1200 is collecting new unwrapped toys or gift cards to benefit children ages 2–17. These proceeds, along with the toys that Anago has pledged to match, will be donated to Broward Outreach Center in Pompano Beach and Real Life Church in Coconut Creek, Fla.
“Through the toy drive, all of us at Anago are hoping to commermorate the spirit of the holiday season, as well as the spirit of a generous young man,” said David Povlitz, Chairman of Anago. “During this season of giving, we are honored to partner with Helen and her family to provide some joy for children in our community. We’re so thankful to have someone as compassionate as Helen on our team to help lead charitable initiatives like this one.”
The donation drive is currently under way, but to truly honor Michael’s memory, the Cornelio family is hoping that the size of this campaign will reflect the size of his heart. Therefore, Anago is also launching a social media campaign to get the word out the about the Michael Cornelio Toy Drive and Anago’s matching donation campaign by using the hashtag #InMichaelsMemory on Facebook and Twitter.
“I want to reach as many people as possible and bring some hope to underprivilieged children, and I have faith that this toy drive will do that,” said Cornelio. “What I want to see this season is people working together to make a difference in the world. I’m hoping that in honor of my son, this toy drive will allow our community to come together for a great cause.”
