The Ardmore Rotary 5k Hosted by CertaPro Painters has been the passion of CertaPro of the Main Line for 7 years. Not only has it raised $95,000 locally over that time, but it has been the inspiration for similar events across the CertaPro franchise system. Those efforts, started in Philadelphia, have raised more than $500,000.
For many years, the 5k supported Homes for our Troops who has a stated goal 'to build and donate specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.' The entire CertaPro system could not be more proud of these efforts by Andrea's and Chris' business.
Recently, the 5k began to support the Ardmore Rotary Club which has varied focuses but strives to "think Globally and act locally. Council for Relations helps Veterans heal while at home. Therapy, council, love, understanding and so much more. Help make a difference in someone's life that so willingly made a difference on ours. 100% of all proceeds donated will go towards our Heroes who have made is home".

Charity Entry by KATHI MELLO
In May 2012, CertaPro Painters kicked off a campaign to support Homes for Our Troops (HFOT), a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization building specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for the most severely injured Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. There was a strong desire to support the communities surrounding our franchise locations; not only through funds; but, through our painting services as well. Following an extensive search of charities, it was clear HFOT was the ideal fit especially given its four-star ranking on Charity Navigator. It was also inherently clear that working with HFOT was an opportunity for CertaPro to consistently deliver extraordinary experiences by fulfilling the needs of our Veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of our country. Since the campaign kick-off, CertaPro franchise owners have both literally and figuratively hit the ground running to support HFOT. In March 2013, CertaPro became one of HFOT's National Sponsors, committing to a goal of $200,000 raised in funds and donations of our painting services by the end of 2014. Raising the $200,000 in one and a half years was a lofty goal and one CertaPro knew would be a challenge to achieve. Fundraisers included: silent auctions held at our conferences, 5K races held in San Diego, Houston and Philadelphia, and a golf tournament in Fayetteville, Arkansas, just to name a few. The largest endeavor was painting 20 homes for Veterans a $160,000 donation. Each home requires a crew of two to four painters and 96 hours of labor. Through CertaPro's relationship with Sherwin-Williams, each home received the latest paint solutions as part of the donation. To ensure the home feels personal to the Veteran, CertaPro offers a Color Consultant. Marine Corporal Joshua Hotaling of California said, CertaPro was great to work with. I was really impressed how they let me pick out a different paint color for the master bedroom from rest of the house. In addition to fundraisers and builds, CertaPro franchisees, staff and corporate staff have become entrenched in HFOT events. HFOT hosts Key Ceremonies, Volunteer Days and Groundbreaking Ceremonies at each build, which our franchise owners and corporate staff are honored to attend. In January 2013, Major General Tim McHale, President and CEO of HFOT, was keynote speaker of the CertaPro Conference. His message inspired all to become involved in whatever capacity possible. McHale noted the thousands of servicemen and women who need our help and that HFOT will not stop until they all have a home specifically adapted to their needs. McHale's presentation prompted the donation of airline miles, vacation homes, and tickets to sporting events, etc. by franchise owners and staff. Most importantly, the entire organization has rallied around these men and women who have sacrificed so much. Relationships have formed and developed and many of the HFOT recipients now consider CertaPro a part of their family. To date, 24 franchise owners have hosted fundraising events and/or painted 20 HFOT homes. The 2014 goal was exceeded with $210,000 in funds and donations.
