Newk’s was founded in 2004 by Don Newcomb, Debra Bryson and Chris Newcomb. The team had previously created and launched the McAlister’s Deli concept. Led by their exacting and trend-setting vision, it quickly became one of the fastest growing fast casual restaurants of the time. After establishing strong upward growth for McAlister’s Deli, the founding team sold the chain and soon began to focus on their new venture – Newk’s Eatery.

Charity Entry by Newk’s Eatery 09/29/2016
Passion goes beyond the kitchen at Newk’s Eatery. Born out of the personal cancer journey of Newk’s Eatery Co-founder and CEO Chris Newcomb and his wife Lori who were blindsided with her Stage IIIC ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2013, “Newk’s Cares” is dedicated to educating guests on early detection and raising money for life-saving research for a cure. Dubbed one of this generation’s “silent killers,” ovarian cancer is the fifth-leading cause of cancer-related death among women, currently impacting 200,000 women worldwide. In its first two years, Newk’s Cares has raised more than $420,000 for the cause, donating all proceeds to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA). Hosting annual Ovarian Cycle fundraisers, in-store and online educational campaigns and more, Newk’s also donates 10 cents for every water bottle sold in-restaurant year-round to OCRFA, giving diners the chance to join the stand against ovarian cancer 365 days a year.
