Woofie’s Find Innovative Ways to Give Back
Woofie’s® is an emerging pet care franchise that has been providing professional pet care services for over 15 years in Loudoun County, Virginia. Woofie’s® has one corporate and three franchise locations, all with innovative efforts to give back to the community during the COVID-19 crisis.
While most frontline healthcare workers are spending long shifts at the hospital, their dogs are spending more time alone at home. To help with this, Woofie’s® is offering free dog walks and grooming services to frontline healthcare workers to ease their minds and give their cooped-up pups some much-needed grooming, attention and exercise. Amy Reed, co-founder of Woofie’s®, says, “We want to be able to give back to the healthcare workers who are on the front lines of the pandemic. By providing free care for their pets, we hope to ease any unnecessary stress they may have while away at work.” This also allows us to show our gratitude to them for risking their lives every day to keep us safe. Woofie’s® clients and community members have shown an outpouring of support for this initiative by donating money to sponsor the walks and grooms.

Another initiative Woofie’s® has implemented to give back to the community during the pandemic is their new Fetch concierge service. Fetch provides Woofie’s® trusted team members to run errands and deliver medications and groceries for clients who are homebound. One-hundred percent of Fetch proceeds go directly to the attendants, enabling team members to continue earning an income even though the demand for pet sitting and dog walking services has declined.
The COVID-19 quarantine has kept people indoors, secluded, and largely sedentary for the past several weeks. In order to combat loneliness and isolation as well as to help boost health and wellbeing, Woofie’s® has launched a free community health and wellness challenge for their clients and employees. Live Zoom yoga classes, online workouts, daily walks, and community posts on Instagram or Facebook help keep the community connected while they work on getting healthy together.
Woofie’s® is dedicated to pet wellness and to kick off National Pet Week May 4-8, Woofie’s® has organized several, free pet care webinars with local pet experts to educate the community about ways to keep their pets healthy at home. The webinars will be held May 4-7 and will cover topics such as DIY grooming techniques for coat maintenance between grooming appointments, acclimating a new dog into a home, training tips and tricks, and pet nutrition.
